Dinagyang Festival 2013 Opening Salvo
ILONGGOS will get a sneak peak of the much-awaited Ati-ati dance competition of the 2013 Dinagyang festival during the opening salvo today.
Iloilo City tourism office chief Benito Jimena said the opening salvo will feature Tribu Ilonganon, Atub-atub, Buntatalan-on, Molave, Milagrosa, Panayanon, Pag-asa, Angola, Salognon and Aninipay.
Tribu Miro (wild cat), a contingent of full-blooded Atis from Barotac Viejo, Anilao and Guimaras, will also join the Ati-ati dance but as a non-competing tribe.
Jimena said the tribes will have to perform well because cash prizes await the most disciplined and well-choreographed contingent.
The tribe with the best performance will receive P20,000 while P15,000 await the group with the best discipline. The tribe with the best costume will win P15,000. The results of the opening salvo contest, however, will not affect the overall standing of the tribes during the final competition on January 27.
The tribes will follow the carousel type parade in four performance areas which will give organizers the chance to gauge the performance time of each contingent.
