It’s been quite a while since my last travel. I love to
travel and this time I decided to know Cebu. To do this, I needed to visit the
well known “Queen City of the south”, Cebu City. Cebu is one of the top tourist
destinations in the country, no wonder this place was dubbed as it is. Many
local and international tourists flock this city to experience their beautiful
beaches, majestic falls and rich heritage sites.
Like many people, I went to Simala in Sibonga, Cebu. This
monastery was popularly known as Simala Shrine or Simala Church.
In front of the monastery, just before stepping foot on the
Shrine’s main entrance, you will find many people selling different kinds of souvenirs.
Upon entering the monastery, I was amazed because it is like a castle that you
can only see in Europe. According to internet sites, this monastery was built
in 1998 by the Marian Monks from Pampanga.
After many years, many people and devotees claimed that they
encountered miraculous events thru the intersession of Mama Mary. No matter how
far this place is from the main city of Cebu, many people are drawn to visiting
this Shrine, carrying with them their deep faith on the miracles that they
believed to be answered thru prayers. I am a Catholic and I believe in miracles.
This is why I went to this Shrine to seek help and I know that my prayers will
be answered.
How to go there?
From the hotel, I went to South Bus terminal and wait for
the bus going to Sebonga. The fare is P100.00 and it took 2-3 hours it depends
on the traffic situation.
