Visiting Lake Sebu was a dream came true for me. With the help of my fellow travel bloggers, and the Municipal Government of Lake Sebu, one of my dream destinations was granted. The Lake Sebu Eco-Cultural Tour organized the trip. I really appreciated this province especially their way of promoting their tourist attraction. Every year tourist arrival were rising, both local and foreign tourists. Many investors were putting their business in Lake Sebu like hotel, resort and aquatic businesses.

Full Bloom Lotus Flower

Before continuing to our Lake Sebu tour, we were invited to take our breakfast at Mountain Log Resort, located at Purok Pag-asa, Lake Sebu, Surralah, South Cotabato. The resort gained its popularity because of the garden of lotus flower on the lake. Our tour guide told us to wake up early morning to witness the blooming of the lotus flower. Lotus plants were believed to be associated with the sun that’s the reason why they bloom at day and closes at night. This adds attraction in the resort which gives tourists more reason to visit. The view of the lake and the mountain made the scenery complete.

If there’s a lake, expect that there’s also a boat. I experienced to manoeuvre a boat going to the deep area of the lake. At first, it was difficult to balance the boat and I have to give force in paddling so that I can go back to my origin. The presence of the lotus flower and the background view of mountain was the perfect place to take pictures.

 Fish Cages
Fishing Area

The lake near the resort has numerous fish cages which most of the locals get their source of income. The resort also has fish cages where most of their dishes that they serve to the guest came from. One of their amenities was to catch tilapia in one of the fish cages using a fishing-rod or “bingwit”. Every fish catch was considered to be sold per kilo at Php100.00/kilo.

The Tower

After taking pictures at the lake, our tour guide Roy Ungkal told us to transfer at the tower. This was one of the attractions of the resort. Before reaching the tower we have to walk for more than 100 steps. It was not easy to walk going upstairs especially when you are not in good condition or for an elderly people. Upon reaching the tower, the view of the mountain, highway, and the vast rice fields was great.

The evident markings and writings on the tower signify that many people were there before us. Most of the writings were their name and date that they were able to climb the tower. Some writings were asking for a textmates, which was a common view in any places in the Philippines. The entrance fee of the tower was only 10 pesos but it was free for check in guest.

Function Hall

Mountain Log Resort has amenities like function room that can accommodate large group of people. The whole day rent of their function room was only 1,000 pesos. They also have rooms which ranges from 500 to 900 pesos.
