TANDAG BOULEVARD

The people of Tandag foresees Tandag Boulevard in Mabua as the land mark of the City in the coming years. It will boost tourism and will hopefully attract investments just like the Dumaguete Boulevard. Half of it is readily open for the public since the other half is still under construction. This project is named after the late Vicente L. Pimentel who was the Governor of Surigao del Sur way back 1946. He was the one who created and named the province as Surigao del Sur.

The project is very helpful to the province because it will be the sanctuary of different people, culture, religion, and businesses of different kinds. The most exciting part would be the competition of the restaurants since the place would be a famous hang-out. 

Walking along the boulevard, I was able to talk with the foreman named Mang Dodong. He explained to me what the project was all about. He was one of my sources about the brief story of the boulevard. During our conversation, he did not missed asking me if where I came from, of course I answered, "from the progressive City of Davao" (we were talking in Bisaya). Davao is very famous in Surigao del Sur not only for tourist spots but the different schools in the City. His son is studying at University of Mindanao. This is the reason why I am proud to be a Dabawenyo.

Despite the heat of the sun, I was able to take photos in my own because I was alone. It was an amazing place, the view of the ocean will surely satisfy your eagerness in travelling when you visit Tandag City.

Tandag Boulevard in Mabua is at its best during the night because of the colorful lamp posts, windy sea air, and various stalls that offer Filipino street food like fish balls, kwek kwek, barbecued pork, isaw, etc.

How to get there

By Air

• From Manila or Cebu to Davao City as transit point, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express ply the Manila-Davao-Manila (approx. 1-1/2 hours travel time) and Cebu-Davao-Cebu (approx. 45 minutes travel time) several trips daily.
• From Manila or Cebu to Butuan City as transit point, Philippine Airlines, Airphil Express and Cebu Pacific ply these routes three times a week.
• From Manila or Cebu to Surigao City as transit point, Airphil Express and Cebu Pacific ply these routes three times a week.
• Mid-Sea Express flies Tandag-Cebu (vv) current 3X a week their office can be found at the Haguisan Inn.

By Land

• Multicabs & Jeepneys around Northern & Southern Surigao del Sur Routes including Surigao City, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, & Bislig City
• Buses routes from Davao City, Butuan City, Surigao City (Bachelor Express), Pasay City & Cubao (PP Bus Line) (Super 5) (St. Michael Bus Liner Corp.)

By Sea

Inter-island vessels like the SuperFerry and Sulpicio Lines ply the Manila-Butuan or Cebu-Butuan routes on regular schedules with Nasipit Port as transit point. Air-con vans are available at the wharf and in the Nasipit terminal or a jeepney ride to the Butuan City terminal for the regular bus trips to Tandag.
