The municipality of Ilog, Negros Occidental is once again celebrating their Kisi Kisi Festival which showcase the abundant marine products of the province. Kisi Kisi is a dance parade which imitates the way fishes flip-flop and twitch as they are hauled during the bountiful harvest. Participating groups wear costumes and headdresses adorned with multi-colored shells & fishnets while props include bamboo poles and baskets used for fishing.

Summer season has come once again to the Philippines. In Bacolod City, summer is more fun because of  Panaad sa Negros Festival will kick off April 8 until April 14 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan. Celebrating on its 20th year, the “Mother of all Festivals” will showcase Negros Occidental’s history, culture, trade, agriculture, tourism and other industries.

Every October, Tupi, South Cotabato is celebrating their Kariton Festival. The celebration highlighting the parade of Karitons (wooden carts) pulled by either a cow or a carabao made of indigenous materials decorated with flowers, fruits and vegetables. A celebration commemorating the significance of “kariton” in the life of the people and the development of Tupi as a whole. The week-long festivity showcases the farm products brought by the Karitons from the farm and the role of Kariton in making livelihood of their old and the empowerment of the women in helping and providing livelihood.

Every summer, the Municipality of Donsol is celebrating the Butanding Festival. It is held in honor of the gentle giants that are the whale sharks and their annual return to the vicinity of Donsol. A week-long activity, Butanding Festival would feature all the anticipated festival trimmings of themed parades, street dancing, delicious delicacies, fun music, and many more.

Bangus Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Philippines. The festival commences with the lighting of 1,000 barbecue grills lined up to cook thousands of bangus, which stretches up to two kilometers. This also serves as a competition for hundreds of cooks, whose dishes are not only judged by the grilling but through whipping up the tastiest and most creative way of serving bangus.

Bangkero Festival commemorates the skill of Pagsanjan’s bangkeros (boatmen) who never fail in impressing their guests with their skill in maneuvering the boat against wild rapids amidst a pristine panorama of lush forest. features stimulating water and in-land activities that  will surely entertain its guests.

Pahiyas Festival is a colorful and lively celebration where the locals express their gratitude for the past year’s great harvest and wishes for a good harvest for the next year. It is held every May 15th in Lucban, Quezon, in honor of the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro Labrador. The celebration is usually kicked off with a procession of the image of their patron saint. The parade passes houses which are all colorfully decorated with “kiping” which is made from grounded rice which is shaped and colored.

Bambanti, the local term for a scarecrow best represents the main industry of Isabela. The human-like form dressed in old clothes placed in the middle of the rice or corn fields acts as a decoy for crows feeding on the crops.
